In March 2026, we opened the doors of our seventh Library for Literacy at the MCM Miqlat Community Center in the Western Cape, a center that already supports 325 children, many of them orphans and vulnerable youth, through day care and after-school programs. Having the library as part of the community center will extend its reach to support >1,000 students from five primary schools throughout the Drakenstein Valley.

In partnership with Breadline Africa, we installed a standalone 45m² prefabricated library building within the MCM Miqlat Community Center. Staffed by a full-time librarian and supported by community center members, the library will serve as an after-school safe haven and literacy center.

We collected, curated, and transported over 2,000 books, tailored to a range of student reading levels.
